Our commitments: Emissions offsetting

Prosegur renews its Compensation Plan to continue its commitment to carbon neutrality before 2040, that is, ten years ahead of the Paris Agreement. In this regard, we have joined The Climate Pledge, a project launched by Amazon in partnership with Global Optimism in the fight against climate change.

Emissions Offset Program

In 2021, we launched a CO2 emissions offset project. This program, in terms of scale and objectives, is pioneering in the industry. Through its implementation, the company currently achieves the offset of CO2 emissions equivalent to those generated by its operations in Europe, Central, and North America.

União dos Ventos Wind Complex

In 2023, we once again focused on offsetting through the generation of 100% renewable energy at the União dos Ventos Wind Complex, located in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. Thanks to this project, it is anticipated that the operations of the plants will reduce over 250,000 tons of CO2 annually.

Punta Palmeras Wind Park

In 2022, we renewed the emissions offset plan through a wind project in Chile. The wind installation has the capacity to generate clean energy for approximately 60,000 Chilean households. The production from this park prevents the emission of 119,000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere from coal-fired power plants and avoids the importation of around 215,000 barrels of oil to generate the same amount of energy.

Santa Rosa Landfill CTR

In 2021, the first emissions offset initiative was developed through a waste management project located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, one of our key geographies. The program aims to reduce methane emissions, a greenhouse gas 25 times more harmful than CO2, from treated municipal waste. The project is endorsed and verified by one of the most recognized international standards and aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals.
