Prosegur commended with “Solidarity-Based Corporation” Award from the CODESPA Foundation in recognition of its Piecitos Colorados project

Prosegur, has received the Codespa Award in the “Solidarity-Based Corporation” category for its development cooperation project Piecitos Colorados. This project, managed by the Prosegur Foundation, seeks to improve the comprehensive education of children from deprived areas of Latin America. The award was collected by the President of the Company and its Foundation, Helena Revoredo, from His Royal Highness the Prince of Asturias, Honorary President of the Codespa Foundation.

Piecitos Colorados considers schools to be drivers of change. By refurbishing schools, implementing nutritional programs, improving education and raising awareness among families, the initiative reduces school dropout and failure rates, boosting the sustainable development of the areas where it is implemented.

Since the program’s launch in 2006, Prosegur employees, as well as teachers, pupils and their families, have been actively involved in it. As well as seeking to best tap the available resources, this innovative approach has managed to reduce truancy rates, boost motivation among teachers and, in short, strengthen these communities. The project is being implemented in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay, and now involves 30 schools in various intervention phases that are helping more than 4,800 children.

On accepting the award, Prosegur President Helena Revoredo highlighted that “Piecitos Coloradosreflects a collective spirit and a comprehensive intervention model in which teachers, families and the Company all work together for the education of new generations, making a commitment of mutual responsibility”. She also thanked “the generous and supportive staff of employees who have taken this challenge to heart, becoming the driving force of the project and worthy winners of this award”.

Through its Foundation, Prosegur implements a number of social action initiatives in the spheres of education, employment integration and social integration of persons with intellectual disabilities, as well as corporate volunteering. Each of its projects seeks to strengthen the values linked to solidarity, as well as to raise awareness and generate change both at the workplace and in society at large, to respond to the needs of the communities where the Company operates.

The winning project is part of Prosegur's Corporate Social Responsibility policy, aimed at creating long-term sustainable value for its clients, employees, shareholders, suppliers and society in general. Since 2002 the Company has been a member of the United Nations Global Compact, signing up to the Ten Principles on human rights, labour rights, environmental development and the fight against corruption.
