Prosegur committed to technology in the design of new security solutions

Prosegur held the fourth edition of its annual conference today, Wednesday 26 March at the Goya Theatre in Madrid, focusing on the analysis of new trends in security and cash management. The chairman of the company, Helena Revoredo, opened the event and drew attention to “Prosegur’s permanent focus on innovation and technology to provide more efficient solutions and be one step ahead in the design of security for the future”.

The conference “Prosegur, Integrated Solutions” was attended by companies from a wide variety of sectors, such as automotive, banking or pharmaceutical, who have shared good practices and success cases in security matters. In addition, the event included internationally renowned speakers discussing the challenges faced in the financial sector as well as the future of means of payment.

Among the speakers was the managing director of Retail Banking Research (RBR), Dominic Hirsch, who pointed out that “during this year we shall witness a segmentation of the services provided by bank branches, more adapted to their customers and location”. On his part, the chairman of the ATM Industry Association (ATMIA) Europe Board, Ron Delnevo, presented the conclusions of the study “The situation of ATMs and the banking sector in 2014” and explained that “ATMs are changing and giving way to multi-functional machines, a business model with a great future”.

Along these same lines, the deputy president of Strategic Insights at Fiserv, Victoria Hepburn, insisted that “studies prove that 60 per cent of the managers rely on technology to offer better customer service and/or to stand out over the competition” and that “cash management is key for banks looking to reduce costs and obtain better results”.

A mobile bank branch model to bring financial services closer
Prosegur has seized the opportunity of this conference to present its mobile bank branch model, which is already in use in Germany and Colombia, countries were the Company is also present. This system, which is to be launched in the month of May, will offer cash withdrawal and pay-in services specially aimed at their application for large cultural or sports events, as wells as for geographical areas where the bank branches do not provide this type of solution.

Prosegur is the first private security company to integrate all activities related to the cash life cycle in order to offer efficient services with guarantees of monitoring and traceability. In Spain alone, the Company, which has 450 armoured vehicles and carries out 350 daily routes, performs the technical maintenance and planning of over 11,000 ATMs distributed all over the national territory.

The future of security using an app for Google Glass
At this event, Prosegur also presented its integrated security solutions, with which the Company moves to the forefront of industry trends, offering the latest technologies in the area to its customers.

With this approach, Prosegur is developing an application for Google Glass which, in the future, will provide security guards with an innovative technological infrastructure to allow them to carry out their services in a more efficient manner. This solution, designed in collaboration with the software development company Intelygenz, will enable guards to access sensitive information so that they can act faster, reduce reaction times and increase the effectiveness of the service.

Moreover, this device will enable security professionals to obtain accurate data on the scenario, in video or photo format, contextualising it via geolocation maps and specific information on a number of aspects, such as the status of access to the facilities. In addition, they will be able to produce an immediate action report and send it to both the Company control centre and to the client.
