Prosegur turnover more than €1,875 million in the third quarter of 2010
The Company is continuing its trend of solid growth despite pressure on the margins of Europe and particularly in Spain. Prosegur continues to generate employment and has increased its workforce, which now exceeds the figure of 104,400 employees in the twelve countries in which it operates.
Prosegur´s turnover has exceeded €1,875 million at the end of the third quarter of 2010, compared to €1,594 million obtained in the same period in 2009, an increase of 17.6 percent.
In addition to the positive variation of exchange rates, this increase is mainly due to the strong organic growth of the Company, 6.3 percent, confirming the business model being developped by Prosegur and allowing it to further consolidate as a reference company in all markets where it operates with a clearly identified strategy -close proximity to the customer, excellence and quality in service, connected to a solid financial position-.
Moreover, the role of the acquisitions made by Prosegur in 2009 and 2010 in Corporate Security and Residential Security have contributed positively increasing sales 4.8 percent in the first nine months of the year, which represents an additional €77 million at a constant rate.
EBIT or operating income before interest and taxes was €194 million. The consolidated net profit of the Company in the Third quarter of 2010 amounted to €112 million, representing an increase of 9 percent over the same period in 2009.
Corporate Security
During the third quarter of 2010, the area of Corporate Security segment had a turnover of €1,768 million, representing an increase of 18.4 percent over the same period in 2009.
By region, business in Europe grew 2.6 percent to reach the figure of €891 million despite the difficult situation in Spain, where Prosegur has maintained its customer base and are opting for a growth path via sectorial expertise, maintaining its sales level. For its part, Latin America has experienced an increase of 40.4 percent to €877 million, thanks to the synergies obtained by acquisitions which were made in 2009 and the positive evolution of exchange rates.
Residential Security
The area of Residential security has earned more than €107 million, which means an increase of 6.4 per cent with respect to the same period in the previous year. The number of connections at the end of September was 280,041 in the six countries where Prosegur develops this business.
Prosegur, the third largest global player in the private security sector is the Leading Global Security Services Company in Spain as well as in other markets where it is operates such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, France, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Romania and Uruguay.
