Prosegur celebrates its 50th anniversary with more than 30% of its total turnover already driven by technological innovation
With a total workforce of more than 180,000, Prosegur has Spain’s second-largest workforce worldwide, driving job creation in the countries where it operates.
Madrid, 26 March 2026.- Prosegur, a global benchmark in the private security sector, celebrates its 50th anniversary. Founded in 1976, the Spanish company has undertaken a profound transformation of its traditional business model, based on physical security and the transport of valuables, establishing itself as a multinational with more than 180,000 employees: nearly 50,000 in Europe; more than 100,000 in Latin America and around 30,000 in the rest of the world, and with a presence in 36 countries on five continents.
Prosegur's business includes activities as diverse and cutting-edge as security at major sporting events, video surveillance, drone systems, the implementation of the hybrid security concept – supported by an extensive single network of intelligent operations centers (ISOCs) in 14 countries in Asia, the United States, Europe and Latin America – or cybersecurity, among others. The company also manages companies’ cash cycle, has developed new transformation products, adds value to business processes, and undertakes the international transportation of securities and cryptoassets. At the same time, it covers the alarm industry using innovative systems using video and AI and robotics for the insurance and financial industry, having developed its own specific software.
Main milestones
The company began its surveillance activity in 1976 serving large retail outlets, power plants and industrial facilities. A decade later, in 1987, Prosegur became the first company in its sector to be listed on the Madrid Stock Exchange, and in 1992 launched the alarms division, which was added to the surveillance and cash transport businesses.
In 2011, Prosegur accelerated its internationalization by entering the German, Indian and Singaporean markets, followed in 2012 by entry into China, after strengthening its presence in Brazil and expanding to Oceania.
In 2017, Prosegur demerged its cash business, with Prosegur Cash listing separately on the the Madrid Stock Exchange. In 2020 Prosegur and Telefónica completed their 50/50 strategic alliance, leading to the creation of the Movistar Prosegur Alarms joint venture.

Technology convergence and cybersecurity
Prosegur Security, the Prosegur Group’s physical and digital security division, has reinforced its commitment to innovation through its hybrid security model which integrates professional talent with advanced technology, data analytics and cybersecurity. This approach is supported by a technological ecosystem that includes the POPS platform, designed to digitize, optimize and transform surveillance services into an intelligent operation aligned with customer objectives and connected to Prosegur's 14 iSOCs distributed around the world, together with solutions based on AI, robotics and drones. At the same time, it provides cybersecurity through Cipher, offering comprehensive protection solutions in cloud and on-premises environments.

Asset Transformation and Tokenization Products
In 2025, transformation products accounted for more than 35% of Prosegur Cash’s total revenues, demonstrating their success and growing acceptance by customers.
In addition, the company, through its institutional cryptoasset custody service, Prosegur Crypto, has launched Prosegur Digital Gold, a pioneering platform that allows the digital purchase of gold backed by physical gold held by Prosegur and verified by periodic audits.

360º security of the home to people
Meanwhile, Prosegur Alarms promotes the connected home through a security ecosystem that integrates intelligent video, AI and digital services. Its solutions combine automation and human care to offer comprehensive protection of people, homes and the digital environment. The company also operates through the Movistar Prosegur Alarms joint venture, which in 2025 reached the milestone of 600,000 connections in Spain.
